When brushing your teeth, you should place the brush on your teeth at an angle of 45 degrees. Brush the inner and outer surfaces of your teeth by moving back and forth with small circular lines. You should make sure you reach your back teeth. Do not forget to clean the surfaces of prostheses on your teeth such as coatings, crowns. It should be cleaned with particular attention to the gum line and the alignment of the teeth. The bristles of the toothbrush should cover both the surface of the tooth and the gum at the same time. It is necessary to make sure that every tooth is cleaned.

Do not forget to brush the chewing surfaces of your teeth. Also brush the front surfaces of the teeth up and down several times vertically. Do not forget to brush your tongue after you finish cleaning the teeth because the tongue surface contains a lot of bacteria.

Tooth Brushing Techniques:

Bass Method: The toothbrush is placed at an angle of 45 degrees to both the tooth and the gums. The brush is moved back and forth parallel to the gingiva line, and then this area is cleaned with circular motions 15-20 times. The toothbrush should cover two to three teeth simultaneously. You can also move the toothbrush up and down vertically for cleaning the front teeth. The chewing surfaces of the teeth should also be cleaned.

Modified Stilman Method: This technique is very suitable to be used in the areas where the gum recession is observed in the mouth. It is similar to the Bass technique. With this method, the toothbrush is moved from the bottom of the gum to the surface, and then the cleaning steps in the bass technique are applied. With the Stillman technique, it can be provided to clean the teeth more.

Charters Method: The other bristles of the toothbrush placed at a 45 degree angle to the gingiva line face the chewing surface of the tooth. With small circular movements, the toothbrush is moved fifteen to twenty times. It is provided to clean the dental plaque with soft movements. It will be beneficial to apply this technique especially by people with a gap between their teeth and with tooth roots on the surface.

Whichever tooth brushing technique you choose, the important thing is to clean your teeth adequately for two minutes. With the correct brushing of teeth, you can prevent caries and gum disease. You can also maintain your dental hygiene with oral care products.

Dental Floss: It is recommended to use the floss before every brushing. It is the best method for cleaning residues and plates that are not accessible by brush and between teeth.
